- The Bear (nickname given him when he coached football in the Sixties, Seventies and Eighties is a lover of fine music, good Italian food served up at his favorite restaurant Cunetto's on the Hill in St. Louis, great movies, all sports especially his beloved St. Louis Blues Hockey team and the St. Louis Rams football team. A former St. Louis Browns Baseball fan, he now accepts the St. Louis Cardinals although can't be called "a Cardinal fan." Bear loves good books and recently went to his first book signing when the great Daniel Silva appeared in St. Louis. He continues to reside in St. Louis although in the past two years has escaped to Cocoa Beach Florida. "Great place!" The Bear is still coaching his favorite fantasy football team, BJ Rhinos, his fantasy baseball team, the Blue Darts and is a major lover of dogs, cats, all animals. Father of 5 sons, and step father of 3 daughters and one son, eleven grandchildren and now one great grand daughter, lover of the Democratic Party and his hero the late great FDR (genuflect please), to quote his wife, "You are a big mouth!" One old friend, now deceased, nicknamed him "words".
